introducing Ally

Ally is a member of Art Space Portsmouth and has been working as a freelance artist for many years.

Her creative practice includes installation, collage, print, pastel and photography, contributing to many exhibitions and completing a number of commissioned works. She enjoys working collaboratively, especially in cross-disciplinary projects
and has experience in initiating exhibitions and arts events in a wide range of contexts.

For Ally, art making is a means of investigating life and engaging with others in the wonder of it. Frequently her work speaks of the value and uniqueness of us as individuals and stimulates consideration by the viewer of the particular, precious contribution each makes to their world. She presents evocative, personal creations that produce opportunities for reflection and refreshment.

Prior to moving to Portsmouth in 2012, Ally worked as Artist in Residence at the Bradfield Club in Peckham, London for four years alongside work at the Serpentine Gallery and Sony Pictures.

She managed the Gordon Reece Gallery in London's Mayfair for a number of years, has worked within a Physical Theatre Company and spent a year working as Artist in Residence in a School for the Deaf in Bolivia.

Ally studied sculpture at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee.
